no pictures yet due to the fact we are in the middle of a very tiny, very foggy hamlet but hopefully there will be some soon. to relay our first adventures...
TGV was excellent, little mountain train was wonderful, never flying again (apart from sally). but arrived too late to sleep so had to sleep in local sports hall. was very kind of them but local youth took offence - no english wanted, apparently. they took their revenge by having a disco until 2 a.m. no song was safe - "we are the champions" suffered a techno massacre. then we had 4.30 dutch waking us up with voice-simulated alarms on snooze. we shall say no more... sally v appalled by conditions of bathrooms.
and then we set off on our first walk - what we thought was a very big hill turned into a mountain. very very foggy, couldn´t see 10 metres in front of us. we walked through thunder and lightening (v scary), hail and gail-force winds. but then eventually got above the clouds where it was lovely and sunny, plus beautiful views across the mountains. (bugs bad though - again, sally not happy.)
descent was long and painful. much longer than expected, although through v charming forest. very blair witchy (sally v scared). now waiting to eat dinner in refugio - we are all very happy to be sleeping in beds tonight!
