So? Where did we leave you? Leaving santa domingo (sniff) ..beautiful town - worth a revisit definitely..found Granon where Pat got the perfect café com leche and the nice bar woman wrote down exactly the instructions for next time. Pat now in coffee heaven. Onto recidilla del camino and castildelgado.. Its nice to walk a few km between villages even though we walk through deserted streets and with the guide book telling us what we miss when passing each locked church!
Viloria de la riioja; villamajor del rio (more rio than villamajor) then up to belorado's spanking new refugio. Pilgrims still have plenty in tank so instead of staying with the puerto ricans we head on through, but firsst we sensibly book ahead so we ignore each pretty village along the way where they have rooms in the alberque's.. Tosantos , villambistia (stop to admire chickens) espinosa (stop for beer and fanta lemon (pat is near teetotal by now).. Hit the main road and come into villa franca des montes de oca which turns out to be the the equivalent of the slow lane of the M25. We are booked into the local lorry drivers holdout (much appreciation goes to john from other pilgrims) but at least its our own rooms and the lamb stew is lovely. Pat crashes. We sleep with windows closed !
