Day 14. Boadilla to Carrion de los Condes

....wonderful sleep - wonderful hot coffee and toast for breakfast - this place is wonderful and well worth staying for next two weeks... But you will of course tell from the blog content if we do not move on! More pain and more dire accommodation must be coming!
Fromista was reached no problem .. Lovely walk by a canal but then all recognisable geographic features like trees, flowers, hedges all disapeared as we strode along a rather bare cycle path where lynda could only tell the cyclepath/psychopath joke so many times. We eventually took the old old pilgrim route which was a very overgrown path by a river. From now on we promised not to mention by name the other pilgrim beginning with 'p' so Pilgrim sally and PP did not think too highly of the bug infested walk so walked pretty quickly. Lynda however was transfixed by the wilderness of the plant life and the endless croaking of a thousand frogs.. Perhaps it reminds us of cobham?
Anyway, nature took a final twist when lynda sat on the wall of the bridge exactly on the entrance to a big ants nest who thought their new mission was to get this new delivery from heaven into the nest. After a quick shake of the undergarments on the P980 minor road we reassembled and walked into Villalcazar de sirga and visited a national monument church. No biggy. Then off to stay in the largish town if carrion de los condes. Nice to arrive earlier than normal and we booked into the convent of santa clara. Very spiritual! Before we went for a nice and typical peregrino meal we popped in for a quick mass.. Turned out pilgrim john got the time wrong by 30 mins and we almost froze to death in the coldest church in the world.. Soup was most welcome and cured the hypothermia. Crashed. Determined to wake early to beat the heat...
