Up early .. With the larks strangely enough - birds tha nest in the million square miles of wheat and barley covering the meseta.. Really nice walking weather and pilgrims pushed on without cofee until castrojeriz .. Lots of rebuilding here .. Camino expansion perhaps? Another long haul of 11 km to itero where we met dog who would have wond most scraggy at crufts. The rusty nails in its collar did nothing to endear him. Ate goods from supermarket.. Pilgrims running short of euros and still no cashpoint on the meseta... Still haven't worked out why these common place facilities don't exist in such places! Trekked on to Boadilla. Now after scare night before where we got the last two beds plus we went without much sleep we had booked ahead.. But out of funds and faced with refugios that looked like prison camps again john sat in despair on the cross outside of the refugio entrance. Surreal arrival of bus full of german tourists suddenly surrounded him - they took a visit into the refugio took a few pictures of said exhausted pilgrim and left.. John walked through to find yet another miracle had taken places. Shangri la beckoned.. Inside the walls was a beautiful garden with a lovely laid out seats statues friendly owners.. We all pinched ourselves. Hot showers cold beers.. Good food and endless vino tinto. This must be what they put into the camino brochures! No wonder tourist buses divert here! How lucky we are to have our own rooms, hot water and food.. Odd how these things become important!
Pilgrim off for some well earned zzzz's .. Keep up the support everyone .. We need to knock a day off the schedule if we are to reach santiago in 13 days ... Gulp.
Thanks for all the comments .. They are read out daily like dispatches.. especially big thanks to Jennie for sending best wishes!

Hi Pilgrims (sounds like John Wayne!) Just popped into your Blog and discovered you had walked another 5 days!! I am exhausted already! Despite a few dramas you seem to have Divine Providence on your side but cross-staring obviously helps too!. Don't hear about feet so assume still attached! Onward and upward(?!)...little line still ascending on kitchen door! Love ja! Jane xxx
Afternoon Mr.B! You appear to be trolling along nicely so all the work you put in before-hand is paying off si?! It was still worth it; from our point of view anyway, as it made us all feel relatively sane seeing you release the steam from your boots and dump your pack down in the office :-)
Derby day today although I wager (no pun) they’ll move a little quicker than you but then they have a couple more legs per participant!
Keep on Rollin’ Rollin’ Rollin’ dudes - Stu.Mc.
Please please Sally return to the keyboard.
Seems like you're doing OK. Not as bad as first impressions anyway :-)
Is there much camaraderie amongst pilgrims? Glad you all seem to be still hale and hearty.

Hi Pilgrims. Have been following progress up Jane's kitchen door, you are half way up already. You are all doing so well. Keep it up! Cant' wait to see next batch of pics. Love Sal X
greetings from lindos! in my thoughts as i recline on my beach lounger all day, mostly thoughts of fear though as i realise i will be walking with you this time next week! well, hope its getting easier now that you are starting your third week, so proud of you all and looking forward to seeing you soon. lots of love x x x
Sally B, resume your blogging responsibilities immediately! (Not that I have anything against your elegant prose John...)
Glad you're all still trudging along in one piece. Almost think I'd swap places with you right now as revision is decidedly less inspiring than beautiful Spanish countryside and churches. Although thoughts of blisters and dusty roads perhaps less appealing.
If you need anymore motivation, just think Kita will be out with you soon and you will all be fiendishly fitter than her, so you can feel really smug as she struggles behind you (poor Kita..)
