Day 21 Villafranca to O'Cerbreiro

...the last blog seems to have vanished into the ether that is "sync blowout" .. Much to the cheers of the other pilgrims who chastise pilgrim john for much verbose description of beauty.. So - a recap:
Pilgrims scattered on exit from hotel which took a few minutes of wandering to reconvene at alberque. Eccentric owner felix was lovely man and took our bags off us ..'you will fly like birds' he said 'but you will never see your packs again!'. He sounded like a prophet!
Pilgrims went for scrumptious breakfast and managed to miss the direction for anything but the road route which was not a bad choice as all other traffic seemed to take 6 lane motorway towering above us.
The walk became more and more pleasant although the rain risk did not happen and it was a little uncomfortably hot. However we fell into a lovely restaurant on a hillside terrace and had a scrumptious meal and nice meal. Pilgrims dream of a siesta but there is never time! The rain fell as we sheltered under the sun umbrellas and cleared the air beautifully. Set off again ever upward into absolutely stunning scenery .. As you got higher more distant mountains appeared and each village fountain seemed more cool and refreshing than the last. A most pleasant walk.
As we reached o'Cerbreiro things didn't go as well. Saturday seems the day spanish choose o'Cerbreiro from all other places to go! The refugio was also shut as it was being renovated and the portakabins with sardine pilgrims in them were all full. Luckily we contacted fresh load of pilgrims who had just fallen off a bus in Perfidita and right next to a hotel. We organised ourselves to meet up amidst much jumping up and down, singing HB for 50th birthday along with much appreciated balloons!
Hotel owner had never seen so many guests arriving at same time and some dispensation allowed the lights to be switched on in the bar. She went shopping in order to cook a nice meal for us and all pilgrims slipped into bed happy, whether they had come 36kms or many thousands...
